Engaging with Public Art

Coming Soon

Engaging with Public Art is designed to help students and their teachers explore contemporary artists and their work. Displayed in public places, buildings, streets, and publicly viewed surfaces, the art form, recognized as street art, has become a worldwide phenomenon. The work often makes a personal or societal statement about how the artist feels about a worldly issue or personal experience. This form of bringing messages to the public has proven to be both impactful and beautiful. The underlying themes in this set include inspiration, empowerment, culture, and integrity.

Engaging with Public Art will be available as an online program that includes:

  • Digital images featuring a contemporary artist and an example of their artwork.
  • Background information about the artist and the artwork.
  • Prompts for discussing and exploring the work.
  • Teacher Guide with instructional information to help students look closely at and reflect on the art and meaning.
  • Instructional content that connects art in the program to the elements and principles.

This program is designed for students to not only respond to art but also engage in meaningful group discussions about what they see as they analyze and interpret the artwork.
