About SchoolArts magazine

How often is SchoolArts published?
SchoolArts is published 9 times a year—September, October, November, December, January/February, March, April, May, and Summer.

Who is the Editor-in-Chief?
The current SchoolArts editor is Frank Juárez, an award-winning art educator, artist, publisher, art coach, and former gallery director living and working in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

What format is SchoolArts offered in?
After 124 years of offering a printed magazine, SchoolArts has transitioned to a digital format starting with the September 2025 issue. The digital platform allows subscribers to access more than two years of back issues, plus search for and save articles. Check out the SchoolArts digital platform.

How do I know when a new issue is released?
If you are a subscriber, you will receive an email when a new issue is released. If you are a subscriber and have not received the email newsletter, please contact us. If you are not a subscriber but would like to receive the email newsletter, please complete this signup form.

Subscriptions

Does SchoolArts offer a print subscription?
Due to rising printing and postage costs, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue our print edition. SchoolArts is now available exclusively in digital format.

If you were a print subscriber and did not receive an email about your digital subscription, please complete this form (coming) to request your digital subscription.

How do I subscribe to the digital platform?
Choose from a monthly ($6.95 per month) or yearly ($34.95 per year) digital subscription. With either choice you receive 10 days of free access. You may cancel your subscription within those 10 days and not be charged.

How can I check when my digital subscription will expire?
Find your expiration date in the account information listed under My Subscription. Log into your SchoolArts account.

Will I be notified when my subscription is set to expire?
Yes, you will receive an email 7 days before your monthly or yearly digital subscription is set to expire. Once your subscription expires, it will automatically renew at the same level you are subscribed for.

How do I cancel my digital subscription?
Manage your subscription from your Account page. Once you are logged in you will be taken to this page. Under My Subscription, click on Open Billing Portal to access your payment information. Click on Cancel Subscription.

If you do not see the Open Billing Portal button, please contact us via email or call our Subscription Manager, Lorraine Markey at 508-754-7201 ext. 1751 to cancel your subscription. Log into your SchoolArts account.

How do I update my email address for my digital subscription?
Manage your subscription details from your Account page. Once you are logged in, you will be taken to this page. Under My Account, click on Edit Profile to enter your new email address in the pop-up window. Click Confirm Profile Update to save your changes. Log into your SchoolArts account.

How do I update my password for my digital subscription?
Manage your password from your Account page. Once you are logged in, you will be taken to this page. Under My Account, click on Edit Profile to enter your new password in the pop-up window. Click Confirm Profile Update to save your changes. Log into your SchoolArts account.

Where do I enter a promotional code for a discount on a digital subscription?
Enter promotional codes for subscriptions on the Payment Details page of the platform. Once a subscription option is selected, enter your email in the pop-up window. This will take you to the purchase page (which is provided through Stripe). On the left side of the page, click on Add promotion code to enter the code. The total cost of the subscription will adjust to reflect the discounted price.

If I cancel my digital subscription, when does the cancellation go into effect?
If you cancel your digital subscription, you will still have access to the digital platform until the expiration date. Please note that refunds are not available for digital subscriptions.

Digital Platform Functionality

How do I access the digital edition platform?
Go here and click on Log in at the upper right corner. Enter your email and password, then click Sign In. If you do not have a digital subscription, choose from the subscription options below the Sign In section.

Can I print or download from the digital platform?
No, you cannot print or download articles or issues from the digital platform.

How do I search for content on the digital platform?
There are two easy ways to search for content.

1. Use the search icon in the upper right corner.
2. Use the Articles feature in the top navigation bar.

Once you are on the Articles page use the category filters at the top to search.

Expand the drop-down menus using the arrow next to each category and select the filters for your search. Filter by Grade Level, Area of Interest, Theme, Art Form, or Media. Select multiple categories to narrow your search.

How do I save articles or issues in the digital edition platform?
When reading an article, a navigation bar will appear at the bottom of your window. Click on the bookmark icon to save the article.

Articles can also be saved by clicking on the Share icon in the upper right corner, then click the bookmark icon to save the article you are viewing.

Access saved articles from your Account, in My Library.

How can I purchase back issues of SchoolArts?
To purchase printed back issues of SchoolArts, contact Lorraine Markey, Subscriptions Manager, at 800-533-2847, ext 1751. Issues can be purchased for $7.99 each. Please have the publication month and date of the desired issue(s) readily available. Please note that the inventory is limited.
