Explorations in Art, Grades 6-8Middle School

A Global Pursuit

By Marilyn G. Stewart and Eldon Katter

A Global Pursuit helps students connect with ideas that are shared by people around the world, and how—throughout history—people have used the materials around them to make beautiful things and to express their ideas about life. Art History and Traditions lessons focus on European history, making this a good fit with the study of Western History and Culture. Art studios, criticism, elements and principles, and art history are included in each unit, along with brilliant fine art images and exemplary student artwork.

  • A Big Idea to engage students in exploring the relevance of art in their lives
  •  Engaging Process-Based Studios based on inquiry and exploration
  • Brilliant fine art images from across time and around the world
  • Exemplary student artwork to inspire students
  • Art criticism based on professional and student artworks
  • Clear lessons in elements, principles, media, skills, and techniques
  • Lessons in Art History and Traditions and in Global Views
