The Day of the Dead Celebration
Since I discovered the Days of the Dead, Halloween has no charms for me. Yesterday afternoon was the annual celebration for this holiday at the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe.
There were crowds all afternoon, partaking in hot chocolate and Day of the Dead bread, making nachos, and decorated sugar skulls at this family celebration.
Every year the ofrendas are different, created by Stephanie Riggs.
There was music and dancing.
This is the community ofrenda where people could place their photos and mementos of departed loved ones.
Face painting and nicho making.

An ofrenda.
Another ofrenda.
