Totonac Boy
Many contemporary Latin American sculptors have maintained a balance between the naturalistic tradition and extreme styles of the present day. Since the civil rights movement of the 1960s and the raised awareness of cultural diversity in the US, many Latin American artists who deal with traditional subject matter became very popular. Zúñiga's work began to be avidly collected by American museums in the 1970s.
