Still Life with Flowers in a Vase
The picture plane is the surface of the painting. This artist has made it appear that they are projecting out towards the viewer. Van den Burghe created a little niche for the bouquet, with a ledge at the bottom seeming the end of the painting. By painting objects projecting beyond the painted ledge, he has "broken" the surface of the painting.
