From “Eight Parlor Views”: Autumn Moon in a Mirror
A woman is having her hair arranged by her maid and notices the moon reflected in the mirror before which she sits. Such spontaneous appreciation of nature reflects the Buddhist attitude that enlightenment may come at a moment when least expected, and that a person should stop and smell the roses so that the moment is not inadvertently missed.
