With the Mongol occupation came a devastation to all artforms, including pottery. The government-owned kilns were no longer in operation, and the celadons degenerated into a rough ware called "pun ch'ong" which means "pale blue or green". The decoration was often crude, with designs often added with a brush and white slip, as is seen in this example.
