Bed
(image added 2008)
Bed, which presents the viewer with a recognizable, everyday object displayed in an unconventional manner, is a parody of Abstract Expressionism. The splattered and dripping paint evokes the movement’s action painting, whereas the use of bed sheets for a canvas is a send-up of a style that Pop artists believed too philosophical and entrenched in dogma.
