Publications Editorial Intern
This internship involves working directly in Davis Publications to help facilitate the publication of art textbooks. This internship will expose the student to a variety of aspects of publishing, including image acquisition, editing, and production. The ideal candidate will have experience with writing and editing, and will also be knowledgeable about studio art and art history. Examples of typical tasks that the intern will be asked to perform include: requesting images from various museums and galleries, editing manuscripts from our authors, performing Internet research, creating and updating databases, and occasionally participating in department meetings. We request at least an 8 hour/week minimum time commitment for the intern to get an accurate impression of a career in this industry.

Marketing Intern
This internship involves working directly in Davis Publications to help facilitate the marketing of art textbooks. Students work with the Marketing Projects Manger and the Marketing Assistant. This internship will expose the student to a variety of aspects of educational publishing, including market research, campaign production, and promotion development. The ideal candidate will have a fair bit of computer experience including Internet research, and will also be knowledgeable about studio art and art history. Examples of typical tasks that the intern will be asked to perform include: competition research, parallel industry research for upcoming campaigns, performing Internet research, creating databases, and occasionally participating in department meetings. We request at least an 8 hr/week minimum time commitment for you to get an accurate impression of a career in this industry.

Davis Art Images Curatorial Intern
Internship opportunities at Davis Art Images introduce students to the daily operations of a Visual Resources Collection. The position is for 10–15 hours per week, working around the student’s schedule. The following opportunities will be made available through interactions with the Curator and Customer Service Coordinator. Some of the things you might be asked to do as a curatorial intern are: Curatorial: Collate textbook slide images for publishing firms, refile slide originals to archive, understand and use catalog database, based on the Santa Cruz System, conduct searches via online catalog, maintain royalties for museums, galleries, and individuals, and update image data on the Web site. Customer Service: Assembling and shipping orders, maintaining customer database for mailings, and organizing and shipping mailings and catalog requests. Production: Scan images for use on the Web site.

SchoolArts Magazine Production Intern
Learn the basics of magazine publishing by working first hand on materials for SchoolArts Magazine. Students primarily work with the Production Editor and will learn about image manipulation, print production, impositions, design, dummy, and digital layout. Examples of typical tasks for interns included editing, formatting, and styling text digitally, page layout, proofreading, preflighting articles and ads, and file formatting. Students will also be given the opportunity to work with the SchoolArts advertising department learning the day-to-day happenings of advertising sales. They will also be given the opportunity to assist the Davis Publications Editorial department with everyday tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience with editing, deadlines, and be a good communicator. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign a plus. SchoolArts Magazine offers a friendly, safe, and creative environment. This opportunity can be used for school credit. We request at least a 10 hr/week minimum time commitment for you to get an accurate impression of a career in this industry. Internships are available in the fall.

SchoolArts Magazine Advertising Intern
This internship offers those interested in the field of marketing and/or advertising the opportunity to be involved in the day-to-day happenings of magazine production, sales process, and procedures by working with the Advertising Sales Department. SchoolArts Magazine offers a friendly, safe, and creative environment. This opportunity can be used for school credit. We request at least an 8 hr/week minimum time commitment for you to get an accurate impression of a career in this industry.
