Abu Habba, boundary stone
The animals and composite scorpion/man on this stele are reminiscent of the earliest Sumerian art in which animals are of prime importance in composition. The hierarchic style in the arrangement of registers and the combined profile/frontal views also follows the traditions of Sumerian art.
