Set Description and Contents:
The artistic and cultural traditions of Latin America have been influenced by a variety ethnic groups, including native Indians, Europeans, and Africans. Pre-columbian civilizations were flourishing in the region as early as 1500 BC, some with established economic and religious institutions, hereditary rulers, and writing systems. By the 16th century, the influence of European settlers can be seen in Renaissance and Baroque styles present in art and architecture.
With digital images and teaching resources you will explore a variety of artistic styles and movements, from some of the oldest art in the western hemisphere to the culturally diverse art produced in the mid-twentieth century.
