About the Author
Marilyn G. Stewart
Dr. Marilyn Stewart is Professor of Art Education, Kutztown University. She is author of Thinking through Aesthetics, co-author of Rethinking Curriculum in Art, series editor of the Art Education in Practice Series by Davis Publications, co-author, with Eldon Katter, of Davis Publications’s middle school art textbook program and senior author of its elementary textbook series, Explorations in Art. The National Art Education Association named her a Distinguished Fellow in 2010, and National Art Educator of the Year in 2011. A frequent speaker and consultant to numerous national projects, Dr. Stewart has conducted over 160 extended staff development institutes, seminars, or workshops in over 25 states.
Eldon Katter
Eldon Katter, author of grades 1?6, is an emeritus professor of art education at Kutztown
University in Pennsylvania. He is a former editor of SchoolArts and a former president of the
National Art Education Association. He taught art in the elementary
schools in Park Ridge, Illinois and Needham, Massachusetts. As a
Peace Corps volunteer in the 1960s, Eldon taught art at a teacher
training school in Harar, Ethiopia. He also worked for the Teacher
Education in East Africa project in Kampala, Uganda.
